Professor Julia Knowlton to be President of the GA Poetry Society

Professor and poet Julia Caroline Knowlton was invited to serve as the next President of the Georgia Poetry Society and was duly elected. She will step into this role at an honorary ceremony in January 2022. She will initially focus on youth programs and a commitment to diverse voices in poetry in Atlanta and throughout Georgia. Professor Knowlton is excited to share her passion for the deep power and beauty of poetry. Alice Greene & Co. will publish her new chapbook of poems, entitled POEM AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD, in 2022.  Professor Knowlton is the author of two previous collections of poetry and has an MFA from Antioch University, Los Angeles. Knowlton’s “career within a career” has been a fascinating and inspiring journey. She has been a professor of French at Agnes Scott College for more than two decades- teaching its language, literature and fashion- before pursuing and obtaining an MFA in poetry only a few years ago. Since that time, Knowlton’s work as a poet has been prolific and beautiful, proving that creative passion is always a worthy pursuit.
